When Chen Yi writes for violin, she brings not only the inventive sparkle characteristic of all her music, but also the personal and visceral feel of composing idiomatically for her own instrument. Energetic Duo was written as a 50th birthday gift for violinist Ron Blessinger of the Portland Symphony and Third Angle new music ensemble.
