Tchaikovsky's Complete Song Texts

By Laurence R. Richter

This exciting volume contains the Russian texts of the complete songs of Peter Ilyich Tchaikovsky, with IPA transcriptions, literal and idiomatic English translations. In 1970 Professor Richter completed course work at Indiana University for a Doctorate in Slavic Linguistics and has been teaching Russian there ever since. He has taught Russian courses expressly for singers and has coached many singers and choral groups in Russian diction. His Rachmaninov's Complete Song Texts is now completed and he is currently preparing Mussorgsky's Complete Song Texts for publication sometime in the year 2001-2002.

This current Tchaikovsky volume contains the texts for all 102 of his songs. We hope the availability of these texts, as well as for the Rachmaninov and the ensuing Mussorgsky texts, will make it possible for more of these wonderful composer's songs to be heard in their original language.
