During his short but prolific life, Franz Schubert composed more than 600 songs. Half of these songs are included in Volume I and the other half are included in Volume II. The songs are presented alphabetically by title. Volume I begins with Abend and ends with Frühlingslied. The reason Volume I only makes it into the F's is because all the songs beginning with Die, Der or Das are listed with those spellings, occupying an inordinate number of D words.
