Rameau: La Guirlande, RCT 42 (Vocal Score)

Rameau composed La Guirlande in 1751 to a libretto by Jean-François Marmontel, and the one-act acte de ballet was first given at the Paris Opéra that September. A pastoral fable of two lovers whose garlands betray their fidelity, it pairs Rameau's late dance writing with some of his most graceful vocal music.
