“With Organ Music for Christmas” and “Organ Music for Passiontide and Easter” Bärenreiter has already published two extremely successful collections for professional and amateur church musicians and organists. This latest addition to the series, “Lob und Dank” [Praise and Thanksgiving] also concentrates largely on 19th century music.
At the centre are chorale settings of the sections “ Lobgesänge ” [Hymns of praise] and “ Loben und Danken ” [Praise and Thanksgiving] from the “ Evangelisches Gesangbuch ” [Protestant Hymnbook] as well as the section “Lob und Dank” [Praise and Thanks] from the “ Gotteslob ” [Catholic Hymnbook].
There are also tried and tested free organ compositions, including works by Gustav Flügel ( Frühlings-Fantasie op. 85 [Spring Fantasy, Op. 85]) and Wilhelm Rudnick (Sonata No. 1 on » Allein Gott in der Höh ’ sei Ehr «), Gustav Unbehaun , Festive Prelude on »Lobe den Herren , den mächtigen König «, Heinrich von Herzogenberg , Organ Fantasia on »Nun danket alle Gott «, Uso Seifert, Festive Postlude op. 32
- A collection of lesser known organ literature suitable for use in both Protestant and Catholic churches
- Tried and tested free organ compositions and chorale settings from the 19th century
- Level of difficulty: easy to medium
