CLASSICAL SPANISH SONGS (CANCIONES CLÁSICAS ESPAÑOLAS), Vol. I by Fernando J. Obradors (1897–1945) was published in 1921 and comprises a set of lyrical songs arranged for voice and piano that draw deeply on Spanish poetic and musical traditions. The volume includes "La mi sola, Laureola," "Al amor," "Corazón, porque pasáis?," "El majo celoso," "Con amores, la mi madre," "Del cabello más sutil (Dos cantares populares)," and "Chiquitita la novia (Coplas de curro dulce)." With its elegant simplicity, warm melodic lines, and subtle nods to Andalusian folklore, this cycle helped secure Obradors' reputation as a master of Spanish art song at a time when many of his contemporaries were looking abroad for inspiration. Reprint edition.
