The etudes of Friedrich August Kummer are best suited for lessons, especially for the accompaniment of a 2nd cello. They are distinguished by a very systematic structure, are sent through the fifth circle, and contain exercise material in all degrees ofdifficulty.
Originally the etudes are from the appendix of Kummers Celloschule for the first lesson op. 60. For the first time, this new editioncompletes them in two volumes as 92 progressive etudes. It follows the first edition published in 1839 (publisher Friedrich Hofmeister, Leipzig) and essentially adopts the original fingerings and line names. For easier readability, the number of finger sets has been slightly reduced.
Volume 1 (ED 22371) is aimed at the beginnings and middle classes, Volume 2 (ED 22372) focuses on the musical lecture of the advanced pupil.Friedrich August Kummer (1797-1879) was a pupil of Friedrich Dotzauer and Bernhard Romberg, and he formed renowned cellists like Julius Goltermann or Bernhard Cossmann
Content:- Exercises in Style - Chromatic Scales - Arpeggio - Staccato - Musical ornaments - Double-stops - Thumb position - Harmonics - Octaves - Thirds and Sixths
