Kayser's 36 Elementary and Progressive Studies has become a staple etude book for beginning violinists. These 36 etudes cover a wide variety of technique, from bowing, to shifting, to fingering. Completion of all 36 studies goes a long way toward preparing students for later etude books, such as Kreutzer and Kreisler. Transcribed for Viola.
