Italian Belcanto Libretti Volume I (Castel)

Italian Belcanto Opera Libretti
Volume I
By Nico Castel
Edited by Scott Jackson Wiley

This first of three anticipated volumes contains: Il Barbiere di Siviglia and Il Turco in Italia (Rossini); Lucia di Lammermoor, L'Elisir d'Amore, and Lucrezia Borgia (Donizetti) and Norma and I Capuleti e i Montecchi (Bellini).

We quote the great diva, Dame Joan Sutherland, who says in her Foreword to this series: "Nico Castel has undertaken a stupendous task with his Operatic Libretti Series, a work that should have been done years ago to provide students and teachers with the necessary pronunciation and correct translations of the works they were studying... How much time these publications could have saved me when studying a new opera! How fortunate are the present day students to be able to refer to these books, constantly improving their understanding of the complete work...Congratulations, Nico, on the perceptiveness and patience you have shown to make these clear reference books available for all opera lovers as well as students of singing!"
