Honegger (1892-1955) became famous as a young man as one of the Parisian group known as “Les Six.” Being basically a traditional romantic, he was the least likely member of the avant-garde clan. Today Honegger is best remembered for his large pieces (such as King David and Une Cantate de Noël), but he was also an excellent composer of chanson. This is a major recital literature that has languished in relative obscurity. The collection contains 36 songs in French, spanning more than 30 years of the composer's career. Original keys only, various voice ranges.
