This “dramatic Symphony” (to use Berlioz's own term) blurs the generic boundaries between oratorio, opera and instrumental music. With its large-scale dramatic structure and Berlioz's legendary mastery of the orchestra, Romeo et Juliette, now available in a study score taken from the Berlioz Complete Edition, is one of the composer's first fullyfledged masterpieces.
