A Concert Piece for Two Cellos
Commissioned by Joel Krosnick’s family to celebrate the cellist’s 70th birthday, Sonata for Two began as a one-movement work for Joel and his daughter Gwen Krosnick. Following its premiere, the original movement became I. Loose Canons, descriptive of the work’s form. Wernick then created a 14-minute suite, adding the songlike II. Orison, and a virtuosic finale, III. " Rejouissance." For advanced performers.
