Fourth volume of the collection of hitherto unpublished works by Frederic Mompou. This volume is dedicated to the work for voice and piano.
Frederic Mompou is, without a doubt, one of the most universal Catalan composers of the 20th century. His work, mainly for piano, manages to extract from this instrument magical resonances that make his style unmistakable, also inspired, as the composer himself recognized, in the music of his country.
As a miniaturist of the sound that he was, Mompou carefully worked his works and was very demanding with the final result. In fact, from when he began to make his first compositional dabbling until he accepted his first work, two years of tenacious work passed. But he did not always get rid of the material he rejected, but often decided to keep it, either for later review or to take advantage of an idea for another work.
The fact is that a good part of this material was deposited in the Frederic Mompou Foundation, created by Carmen Bravo, the composer's widow, and another in the Biblioteca de Catalunya. Thanks to the dissemination will of Joan Millà, current president of the Foundation, and the collaboration of the pianists Mac McClure and Jordi Masó, who have classified and registered this unpublished work, it has been possible to bring to light a good number of Mompou's compositions hitherto unknown and now published by Editorial Boileau.
