The Mateh Ahron collection includes songs that are influenced by a liturgical style and character. The organ can replace the accompaniment of a quartet. Each number can thus be interpreted in different ways: as a choir or solo song with organ accompaniment, as a piece for mixed choir a cappella or as a purely instrumental piece. The 40 songs in the 1893 collection are reprinted in volumes 4-6 of this series; the present edition contains numbers 1 to 10.
