Gerhard Maasz's biography is marked by an eventful life. In addition to many positions as conductor of large orchestras, he was committed to promoting talent, both musical and practical, as well as composers. Maasz is the initiator of the Locarno Youth Music School. His commitment is clearly visible in the form and aim of his compositions.

The multi-volume Contempore series offers advanced amateur players and professional musicians alike plenty of material for studying and performing well-known and not yet sufficiently well-known contemporary composers. The first part of the series is dedicated to the recorder, a second to various chamber music ensembles.
