Eberhard Klemmstein’s intention in writing this serenade was to provide an item for in-clusion in concert programs who’s central presentation is Mozart’s unique Gran Partita. The title “Serenade” makes it a must on the one-hand to write music that is comprehen-sible and entertaining for the audience and enables the individual instruments to radiate in their own particular characteristic manner. On the other hand, a certain depth should be evident – preventing any superficiality.
Here the composer has created with great care, in a strict form, harmonically refined music full of contrapuntal and musical patterns. Virtuosity has not been ignored, great sound effects do not fail to emotionally capture the listener.
