Hölszky: Klangwaben - Signals for Violin solo

“What gave rise to this piece was my work on a scientific study about the signals emitted by bees. It was fascinating to learn that these signals are based on a finely graded micro-periodicity. My work has 15 stages designated as “honeycombs”. Every honeycomb focuses on about six similar events which have identical dynamics and almost identical playing techniques, tone colors and pitches, but which never create a chronologically exact periodicity.”
