When Appollo 11 left the moon in 1969 the astronauts left behind 6 United States flags.One of them was knocked over by the engine thrust of the departing craft but 5 were left standing and they have remained standing until this day. However they are not United States flags anymore. Due to extreme temperature fluctuations and UV radiation all the flags have now turned white.
